Women’s Health FAQs

Chiropractic care and other manual therapies may be beneficial for a variety of health issues that women face.

We have a clinical interest in women’s health.

Here are some commonly asked questions about chiropractic care and women’s musculoskeletal health issues.

Chiropractic care often focuses on musculoskeletal issues, which can be particularly beneficial for certain health problems commonly experienced by women.

Here are some issues that chiropractors often help with in the context of women’s health:

  • lower back pain
  • neck pain
  • headaches and migraines
  • pelvic pain
  • posture-related issues
  • sacroiliac joint dysfunction
  • pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pains, and
  • stress and tension management.

Chiropractors may address these issues through adjustments, therapy, and physical treatments, ensuring you feel comfortable and pain-free.

Pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pains may also be addressed through tailored treatments.

Prenatal and postnatal musculoskeletal conditions like pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain, lower back pain, sciatica, round ligament pain, and sacroiliac joint pain may be helped through manual therapy and chiropractic care

Many patients seek out a female chiropractor for their clinical interest in women’s health and when dealing with pregnancy related issues.

Chiropractors may effectively manage sacroiliac joint dysfunction, a common cause of lower back and pelvic pain, by providing key support and techniques. In particular, a female chiropractor may be more adept at prescribing specific exercises designed to strengthen the muscles around the SI joint, improve core stability, and enhance pelvic alignment.

Chiropractors diagnose SI joint dysfunction using physical examinations and patient history, performing tests to pinpoint the source of pain in the SI joint.

Chiropractic adjustments, also known as spinal manipulation, aim to correct misalignments and restore proper movement to the SI joint, reducing pain and improving function by ensuring proper alignment.

For those better suited to gentler techniques, chiropractors employ mobilisation techniques, which involve gentle movements and stretches to enhance the range of motion and flexibility of the SI joint without the need for adjustments.

Chiropractors prescribe exercises to strengthen muscles around the SI joint, improve core stability, and enhance pelvic alignment.

By addressing both the symptoms and underlying causes of sacroiliac joint dysfunction, we may be able to offer you a comprehensive approach to managing and treating this condition.

Our appointments may take up to 30 minutes. Your initial consultation time will range from 45 minutes to an hour.

We proudly offer longer consultations, meaning you have more time with the chiropractor.

The benefits of a chiropractic adjustment may last for a varying length of time, depending on factors such as inflammation, chronic complaints, daily movements, and lifestyle.

Chiropractic adjustments can provide immediate relief from symptoms, lasting a few hours to several days. Short-term relief may last several days, especially for specific issues. Long-term management is crucial for chronic conditions, focusing on symptom management and function improvement.

Following a chiropractic adjustment, the body undergoes various changes, which are discussed below.

  • Many people experience immediate pain relief following an adjustment. This is due to the reduction of pressure on joints and nerves and the realignment of misaligned joints.
  • Adjustments may enhance joint mobility, allowing for a wider range of motion and reducing discomfort in the adjusted areas.
  • Chiropractic adjustments may improve the nervous system’s response to nerve signals, enhance overall body system function and reduce pressure on the nervous system.
  • Adjustments may alleviate pain, reduce muscle spasms, and improve comfort by reducing tension in the muscles surrounding the joints. This is especially important when pregnant.
  • Chiropractic care may significantly reduce inflammation, a major cause of joint and muscle pain, thereby enhancing overall health and aiding recovery.

Chiropractic adjustments may cause varying responses, with some experiencing immediate relief and others experiencing mild discomfort. It’s important to discuss any concerns you may have with us for treatment and follow-up appointments.
